Literacy and Numeracy Student Support Officer
On Campus in Atherton

Jubilee Christian College is seeking a suitable Literacy and Numeracy Student Support Officer to work with students needing intervention and additional support at our Atherton campus.

 

This is a part-time position during term time, up to 25 hours per week. The College pays above Award wages – the position is at Level 3.2 of the Educational Services (General) Award.

 

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Completion of, or working towards completion of, an Education Support qualification. Certificate IV in Education Support is desirable.

  • Proven ability to facilitate small groups and work with individual students, including those with diverse learning needs.

  • Extensive knowledge of the social and educational needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other conditions that impact learning.

  • Ability to deliver learning support programs with fidelity

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.

  • Sound record keeping, communication and reporting skills utilising digital technologies, in particular G-Suite platform.

  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills – students, parents & colleagues.

  • Ability to contribute to and implement a strengths-based educational framework, presenting an integrated Christian worldview.

  • Applicants should be suitably qualified with a passion for quality Christian education whilst displaying a heart for young people to reach their God-given potential.

  • Hold a current Working With Children Blue Card.

Multiple Positions

Jubilee Christian College is seeking suitable Teacher Aides to work with Distance Education students with additional needs and their families in the North Brisbane region and in the Cairns region.

This is a casual position (with the potential to become part-time) – mostly during term time, up to 20 hours per week.

The College pays above Award wages – the position is at Level 3.2 of the Educational Services (General) Award.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Special Education training and or experience as a Teacher Aide is desirable.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs.
  • Extensive knowledge of the social and educational needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other conditions that impact learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of IEP’s

DISTANCE EDUCATION P-9 TEACHER
(Teacher of Complex Learning Needs)

 

An opportunity has become available for a passionate, experienced teacher to join our enthusiastic team. The successful applicant will have the capacity to plan, teach, and assess, in relation to the Australian Curriculum. The primary focus of this position is to assume the responsibility for distance education students, in particular, those with complex additional learning needs, and work from the school office in Atherton or your home office as determined by the Principal.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Ability to develop confidence and self-esteem in students and to act as a role model in presentation, action and communication 
  • Ability to use a wide range of teaching strategies to cater to student learning needs and to effectively monitor student progress
  • Willingness to participate in co-curricular activities of the school
  • Willingness to participate in professional development activities
  • Proven ability to be reflective and possess a commitment to learning and professional development
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the discovery and development of the students’ unique God-given gifts and personalities
  • Demonstrated high-level record-keeping skills utilising existing digital platforms and technologies
  • The ability to teach from a Biblical Worldview
  • High motivation and organisational skills, with regards to planning and delivery of curriculum with reference to relevant frameworks, including ACARA and QCAA
  • A Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration
  • Teaching experience in relevant areas
  • Proven ability to modify programs for students with additional needs
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to communicate effectively with students, parents and all school personnel
  • Willingness and proven ability to utilise and adapt to using existing technology platforms for all teaching, communication and record-keeping and time management
  • High-level communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • The ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times
  • Willingness to identify with and support the ethos of the College
  • Applicant must hold a C class drivers licence and be willing to travel

Formal Qualifications:

  • Teaching Qualification from a recognised University or College
  • Ideally post-graduate qualifications in Learning Support or similar

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and proven experience in implementing contemporary methodologies in education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in planning and implementing Australian Curriculum in a wide range of key learning areas
  • Proven knowledge of child and adolescent development and learning
  • Demonstrated understanding of and implementation of contemporary assessment strategies, timely feedback and a range of reporting strategies
  • Experience supporting students with additional needs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents, professionals and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the design and implementation of direct and consultation-based intervention which is responsive to the individual needs of children and young people, their families, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary team
  • Previous experience in a distance education setting is highly desirable

The primary duty of a Relief Teacher is to effectively deliver the provided curriculum material to the class and ensure the well-being and safety of students when the regular teacher is unavailable.
